AHMEDABAD, DEC 30: Saurashtra batsmen completed a marathon at the speed of a sprinter and Gujarat bowlers were seen running for cover. Bimal Jadeja (203) and Prakash Bhatt (161) saw Saurashtra scored a mammoth 540-6 declared while Gujarat had a false start finishing at 29-1 at stumps on the penultimate day of the Ranji Trophy match here on Wednesday.

The eventful day had historians and statistician flipping books and making entries. It was truly a day to remember for the visitors. This is Saurashtra’s highest score ever against Gujarat, Jadeja became the first players in five season to score a double ton and when Bhatt reached 84, he completed 1,000 runs in Ranji Trophy. Besides, Jadeja and Bhatt were also involved in a 282-run stand for the fourth wicket.
