Indian team manager praises security measures

The PCB has got a nod of approval for their security arrangements for the Asia Cup from Indian team manager.

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday got a nod of approval for their security arrangements for the Asia Cup from Indian team manager Aravind Ganguly.

Ganguly also played down security fears expressed by New Zealand and Australia about coming to Pakistan for the Champions trophy in September.

8220;Pakistan clearly has a good cricketing environment and I think the security arrangements are also good. We are not concerned with this aspect as it is well taken care off,8221; he told reporters during the Indian team8217;s practice session at the National bank complex.

8220;The Indian team is very happy to be in Pakistan for this tournament and we are enjoying ourselves and feeling at home. The hospitality is good,8221; he said.

Ganguly said he had no doubt the security would still be better for the Champions Trophy which was a bigger tournament.

8220;I would tell New Zealand and Australian teams they must come to Pakistan for the Champions trophy. Whatever fears they might have in their mind will be cleared once they come here and see the excellent arrangements and cricketing environment,8221; he added.

The team manager said players just had one day in the city and had spent most of the time in the hotel mentally preparing for their first match on Wednesday against Hong Kong.

Having reached Karachi on Sunday night, the Indian players spent their entire next day in the hotel.

Ganguly played down reports that allrounder Irfan Pathan was carrying a knee injury.

8220;He has no serious fitness issue and is carrying a slight side strain for which we are resting him for the first match but he will be okay in two days time,8221; he said.
