HOVE, May 14: The Indian board slapped a ban on wives staying with the players after May 12. This was meant to enable the players to concentrate on the World Cup. But that move has boomeranged if the initial days experience is anything to go by.
Barring the wives of one or two players who have returned home, the others have simply moved out of the team hotel and checked in with friends. The players now give all sorts of excuses to slip away for the rendezvous with their wives. Thus the players are interacting with each other even less than before.
As for moving to various centres, the wives are being transported in a vehicle right behind the team bus.
