NEW DELHI: India’s Sachin Tendulkar, who scored a match-winning century against Australia at Chennai, has leapfrogged to third place from his previous 13th in the Pepsi Cricket Test Match ratings, headed by Lankan Arvinda De Silva.

Mekhala, Arjan improve ranking
MUMBAI: National champions in women’s andmen’s sections, Mekhala Subedar and Arjan Singh, have improved their world squash rankings this year. Mekhala, who was ranked 105 last year, has moved up 15 notches to 95 where women’s world champion Farah Fitz-Gerald of Australia heads the list, while Arjan Singh has moved from 84 to 80 in the men’s ranking, according to information received here today.
Peter Nicole of Scotland, who won last year’s Mahindra International title, is heading the list in the men’s section.
Record prize
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A prize-money of Rs one lakh will be given to the winner of the fourth National Travancore Marathon and Track Meet to be held here on August 8. The prize money of Rs one lakh is the highest for a marathon in India, said the organisers. Second and third placed get Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. Top athletes in the country are expected to participate here.
