
Mohali may not host Test against New Zealand
CHANDIGARH: Uncertainty hung over Mohali being the venue of the first cricket Test match between India and New Zealand next month as the organisers Punjab Cricket Association PCA today decided that it would not be economically viable to host the event there.
The PCA, at its executive committee meeting here, decided that it might either forgo the Test, scheduled from October 10-14, or shift the venue to Chandigarh in case tickets for the match was not exempted from entertainment tax by the state government.
Arjun Singh finishes joint fourth
NEW DELHI/TAIPEI: Arjun Singh finished joint fourth along with Thailand8217;s Thammanoon Sriroj in the 300,000 ERA Taiwan Open at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club at Taipei, according to information received here. Arjun Singh had a 70 in the final round while Sriroj had 68.
They finished one stroke behind American Eric Meeks who had a 10-under for the tournament after carding a 67 on the final day.Korea8217;s Kang Wook-Soon tasted victory for the third week in a row. Kang completed back-to-back wins on the Korean PGA Tour last week.
Mukesh Kumar8217;s team triumphs
CHENNAI:MHOW professional Mukesh Kumar and his team comprising Mandip S Malik, G Rajagopal and Lakshmi Narain emerged as winners in the Pro-Am event of the Rs 7 lakh Cosmo Hindu Open at the par-72,6,544 yard Cosmopoltian Golf Course.
Mukesh, who had a score of 5 helped his team to win with a total score of 10. Rafiq Ali and his team of Ishimoto, Jaishankar and S Raghu, who lost by a thin margin, carded a score of 9, Rafiq himself contributing a fine 5. SSP Chowrasia and his team of Shankar Krishnan, Sunny Malhan and M Mashita, finished third with a score of 8.
Cycling selection camp for Malaysia
CHANDIGARH: The Cycling Federation of India will send an eight-member team for the Perlis Open International Cycling Championship to be held in Malaysia in November.
