MUMBAI: Abhijit Kukreja of India last night beat Deng Kean Gwan of Malaysia 9-3 9-0 9-7 in the finals of the Under-16 section in the Sportsexcel Milo Squash Championship at Sabah in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in Milan in Italy, India8217;s national champion Arjan Singh lost to England8217;s fifth seeded John White in the first round 5-15 6-15 9-15 in the Italian squash circuit, according to information received here.
Tendulkar flayed
CALCUTTA: Former Test opener Pankaj Roy has strongly criticised the performance of Sachin Tendulkar as captain of the Indian team and feels the latter should be relieved of the post of skipper of the National side immediately.
Roy, who still holds the world record for the opening stand in Test cricket with Vinoo Mankad, said 8220;Tendulkar has been given enough chance to lead the team. I think there should be a change now.8221;
Sachin for final
CALCUTTA: Indian cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar will not allow the disappointment of defeat to come in the way of his being present for the Independence Cup finals at the Eden Gardens. Tendulkar has confirmed that he will be present on the occasion.
All post-Independence captains have been invited to the Eden Gardens on May 27 and 28 to witness the finals between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Out of the 22 invitees, Ghulam Ahmed, D K Gaekwad and Hemu Adhikari have sent in their refusals on health grounds or family engagements. Three others, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Gundappa Vishwanath and Dilip Vengsarkar are yet to confirm. Others including Mohammed Azharuddin and Sunil Gavaskar will be present here on both the days.
Change in venue
BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Hockey Association, hosts of the 58th Senior National Championship have at last decided to change the venue to the new stadium in Akkithimmanahalli in the city where the poligrass surface was expected to be ready for the quarter-finals from May 28.

DHANBAD: Hosts Bihar boys entered the last four stage routing Delhi 7-0 in the 42nd National School Hockey Tournament here today.The Bihar team led 3-0 at the half time. Skipper Adman Kerketta netted four goals while his teammate Atal Tikki scored twice and Vijay Topno netted once.In another match, Uttar Pradesh trounced Maharastra 10-0 in a one-sided match.
