Dhillon, Gill, Mukesh recalled
CHENNAI: Right-winger Mukesh Kumar, dropped after the Asian Games, has been recalled for the third hockey Test against Pakistan to be played in his hometown Hyderabad on February 8.

Briefing the press on Saturday, Indian Hockey Federation secretary-general K Jothikumaran, said Baljit Singh Dhillon and SS Gill have been included in place of injured Ramandeep Singh and L Prabhakaran.

Ticket sales for the fourth Test to be played here on February 10, will commence on Sunday (February 7) at 3 p.m. The denominations would be Rs 30 and 100, he added.

A capacity crowd is expected for the Chennai Test and the security arrangements will be the same as that for the cricket Test held here recently said T Radhakrishnan, Joint Commissioner of Police.

As part of the security measures, the spectators will not be permitted to bring glass bottles, tinned food or any heavy baggage, and every individual will be searched thrice before entering the stadium.

LUCKNOW: The Indian eves registered their sixth consecutive win over Sri Lankan women’s cricket team in the seven-match series by 233 runs on Saturday.

India bundled the Lankans out for 51 after giving a victory target of 285 runs. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field first.

BHILAI: TISCO (Jamshedpur) and Western Railway (Mumbai) won the men’s and women’s titles in the second all-India Steel Trophy championship. TISCO trounched Western Railway, Ajmer, 86-68 while Western Railway upset Eastern Railway 45-44.

Bengal triumph
SURAT: West Bengal topped the under-14 and under-19 age groups in both boys’ and girls’ sections and won the team title in the 44th National School Gymnastics championship.

Telecom hockey
BANGALORE: Teams representing 12 Telecom regions from various parts of the country will take part in the 14th edition of the all-India Telecom hockey tournament scheduled to be held here from February 8. All the matches in the six-day tournament, which will be conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis will be played at the Akkithimmanahalli Stadium. The teams will be divided into four groups for the preliminary league with the group winners advancing to the semifinals.

The groupings: Group A: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat. Group B: MTNL (Delhi), Rajasthan, Bihar. Group C: NTR (Delhi), Haryana, Andhra Pradesh. Group D: Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal.
