High Court summons Kapil Dev
INDORE:
A division bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court today summoned the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI Rajsingh Dungarpur and chairman of BCCI8217;s pitch committee and former India skipper Kapil Dev to appear before it on August 24 in connection with abandoning of a One-Day International between India and Sri Lanka here.

The summons were issued during the proceeding of a public interest litigation filed by one Sunil Jain demanding an inquiry into the abandonment of the match at the Nehru Stadium due to unplayable pitch conditions on December 25.

Anand to play computer
CHENNAI:
World No 2 Viswanathan Anand is to play an eight game computer exhibition match against quot;Rebelquot;, the chess playing programme, in Ischia, an island off Naples in Italy, from July 21-23.

On July 21, four blitz games of five minute duration and two semi-blitz games of 15 minutes per player would be held. One game each would be played on July 22 and23.

Rebel, one of the strongest chess programmes on the market today, was an experimental version, expected to perform at 30 ELO points above the previous Rebel 9 version.

Athletics coaches get visas
NEW DELHI:
The five foreign athletic coaches who could not accompany the Indian squad for the Fukuoka Asian Track and Field Meet yesterday due to denial of visa by Japan will leave here tonight after being issued the papers this evening.

The Japanese embassy authorities here attributed the inordinate delay in issuing visas to the coaches, from CIS countries, to non-receipt of clearance from their foreign ministry in Tokyo.

Coaches Aleksei Ivanov throws, Gueorgui Tchernychev middle and long distance and Masseur Gennadi Kossarev all Russia, sprint coach Valery Moshkovsky and team doctor Yuri Boyko both Ukraine could not accompany the team which left here yesterday for the July 19-22 meet.
