Bar owners bandh
Kolhapur: The State-wide bandh called by the Maharashtra Liquor Vikreta Mahamandal MLVM to register their protest against the government8217;s decision to hike the licence fees evoked a total response from the permit-bar owners, country liquor shop owners and foreign liquor shop owners here today. Earlier, the bar owners and liquor dealers along with their employees had gathered at Bhavani Mandap and took out a morcha to the collectorate. A delegation met Collector Arvind Singh and submitted a memorandum to him.

Thube probe
Pune: District Collector Vijaykumar Gautam has ordered an inquiry against Haveli tehsildar D A Thube, suspended last month for his alleged involvement in large-scale irregularities. Sources said Thube had passed 199 orders transferring land ownership at Mauje Vadhu and Mauje Kolwadi where the land ownership could not be under the Rehabilitation Act. The orders were passed without the consent of the district collector. No legal formalities like issuing notices or declarations were completed. Besides, Thube had allegedly changed the 7/12 extracts without permission of the district court and without consent of the legal heirs.
