Dacoity spree is on as five more suffer injuries
Pune: Five persons, including two women, were injured in three separate dacoities in the rural outskirts of the city on Tuesday night. Booty estimated to be worth over Rs 12,000 was stolen in these dacoities.

Four persons, including two woman, were seriously injured when a gang of dacoits targeted two adjoining houses at Dehu Road. The dacoits forced entry inside the houses of Nivrutti Bhondave and Sharad Balvadkar after breaking open the doors and thrashed the occupants with sticks.

Bhondave, his wife Vatsalam Balvadkar and his wife Sushama suffered deep injuries in the attack. The dacoits snatched Sushama8217;s ornaments estimated to be worth Rs 5,400 before fleeing.

A first information report FIR lodged at Dehu Road police station said the dacoits belonged to the age group of 20 to 25 years. They wore T-shirt and had covered their faces with scarfs. They were speaking in Marathi.

In a separate incident, four dacoits targeted the residence of Anil Tryambak Patil 25 at Kuran village near Junnar and stole cash, ornaments and electronic gadgets worth about Rs 7,000.

Patil was fast asleep when the dacoits broke open the window of his house and forced entry inside. They assaulted Patil before tying him up with a wire and stole all the cash and valuables he had, police said.

Karnataka waits for water
Nipani: The agreement related to the supply of waters of Kalammawadi dam to Karnataka is put on hold in the absence of Chief Minister Narayan Rane8217;s signature. Karnataka has assured to pay Rs 26 crores to the State as soon as the agreement is signed, Subhash Joshi, MLA from Nipani, has said. The waters of Kalammawadi dam has been released by the State Government. These waters which is discharged into the Vedganga river will be stored in Sidnal dam.

Kochar takes over at NDA
Pune: LT Gen S B S Kochar, an alumni of 20th NDA course took over as Commandant, National Defence Academy on Monday from Vice Admiral Arun Prakash. Commissioned into Gorkha Rifles in June 1962, Gen S B S Kochar has held various staff, instructional and command appointments in India and abroad.

Gen Kochar commanded a division in Southern Command from 1992 to 1994. He was awarded the Ati Vishist Seva Medal.
