
Shriramkrishna Kshirsagar dead
Ahmednagar: Shriramkrishna Kshirsagar Maharaj, founder of Vedant Vidyapeeth and trustee of Shree Dutt Devstan Trust, who died on Wednesday night, was cremated on Friday. He was 66.
The condition of Kshirsagar Maharaj who was a diabetic patient became critical on Wednesday afternoon.
His devotees are spread in different parts of the State as well as abroad. His body was kept at the Darshan hall of Dutt Devsthan where a large number of persons paid him homage.
Kshirsagar Maharaj was born at Rahuri and at the age of seven he had become a disciple of Shreenrusinh Saraswati Maharaj. In 1974, he established Shree Dattatraya Devstan Trust and Vedantnagar for spiritual guidance.
Conference on laproscopy
Kolhapur: A two-day first national mid-term conference and workshop on laproscopic surgery will begin here from Saturday.
The conference is being organised under the aegis of Indian Association of Gastro-Intestinal Endosurgeons IAGES and Deccan Association of Laproscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons DALERS, organising committee chairman Dr Suresh Deshpande and joint secretary Dr Deepak Patil said.
Presently about 800 scholar surgeons across the country have been performing laproscopic surgery. However, in comparison to this number, the percentage of such scholars is not sufficient in western Maharashtra, they said and pointed out that the main object of the conference was to create awareness among the people regarding this surgery.
Some 250-300 scholar surgeons in this field across the country will participate in the conference. Prominent among them are IAGES chairman Dr B Krushnarao, honorary secretary Dr K Ravindranathan, IAGES Mumbai past president Dr T E Udwadia, Dr P K Reddy and Dr Kurein joseph both from Chennai, Dr P K Chaube, Dr Ajay Krupalani, Dr Urwashi Zha from Delhi and others.
