Quiz contest
Seven schools participated in the Quiz and Painting competition organised at the Holy Child High School today. Bharat Jatakin and Kriti Trehan from Hansraj Public School won the running trophy for the Inter-School Quiz.

SIE holds contest
A music contest was held by the State Institute of Education, Sector 32. The contest was organised in two parts 8211; Shabad Bhajan and Ghazal recital in the first phase and classical vocal and instrumental in the second half. Those who bagged the first prizes include : Vivek Gupta of Government Model Senior Secondary School for Ghazal, Gopal of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37, for Religious song, Aditya Sharma of St.John School Sector 26 in vocal classical and Avirbhav of K.V.School Sector 47 for instrumental.

Death mourned
The untimely demise of Punjabi poet Joga Singh was condoled by the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Chandigarh. A statement issued here today appealed to the Punjabi University that his works be published in a book form.

Condemned
The All India Dalits amp; Minorities Welfare Front condemned the inhuman treatment meted out to a disabled Dalit woman of Bhangarkhera in Abhohar. In a statement released by the Chairman of the front, Tehal Singh said that the government had failed to check the incidents of maltreatment to this group.
