
Criticising the forecasts made on the outlook for the Indian economy by International Monetary Fund IMF, Disinvestment Minister Arun Shourie said that 8220;they should be studied with greater care and we should stop repeating these prescriptions mechanically8221;.
In his address during a session in Confederation of Indian Industry8217;s CII annual conference, Shourie said that 8220;the focus should be much more on the analysis of prescriptions of global monetary organisations because they affect decisions of businessmen8221;. While giving the example of Argentina, he said that it followed the guidelines blindly without checking the basis of the forecasts and look at its state now8221;. The same fundamental works for the South East Asian economies which after becoming so-called tigers went through severe economic crisis however Indian remained fairly insulated from it.
