
Mobile operator Hutch, which has been taken over in India by global giant Vodafone, doubled its customer base and raised earnings and revenues by 50 to 55 per cent last year.
Hutchison Telecom, which last month agreed to sell its India operations to Vodafone for 11.1 billion in cash, today reported a 55 per cent jump in its India business turnover to HK15,455 million, on the back of a 104 per cent jump in subscriber base to 23.3 million at the end of 2006.
This is likely to be its last financial report before the Indian operation8217;s transfer to Vodafone.
HTIL said that 2006 was a landmark year for the group8217;s India operations 8212; Hutchison Essar, which reported 8220;excellent results despite competition in the market and some downward pressure on pricing8221;.
