Alarmed over the vandalism at the residence of Mohammad Kaif allegedly by members of Lok Janshakti Party LJP and his father8217;s angry statements, the police have launched a manhunt to track down those involved in the incident.

8220;We are very close to arresting the culprits. We have got inputs from senior leaders of the LJP, who have themselves condemned the demonstrations,8221; said SSP BD Paulson. 8220;We have placed round-the-clock security at Kaif8217;s residence. residence. Two constables will remain placed outside his residence all the time, while in-charge of the Civil Lines police station had been directed to take periodic rounds to the place ,8221; he said.

It may be recalled that Kaif8217;s father, Mohammed Tarif, who had been a Ranji trophy player and serves as a ticket checker in the Railways, had told a section of the media following the attack that they would leave Allahabad if such behaviour continued time and again. This was the third such incident.

A group of people claiming themselves to be members of the LJP had burnt the effigy of Kaif, cricket team coach Greg Chappell and BCCI chief Sharad Pawar outside Kaif8217;s residence in Allahabad on Monday. They also broke electric bulbs inside the house and blackened the nameplate bearing name of Mohammed Kaif.

The incident was condemned by one and all, but that did not obviously satisfy Tarif. 8220;This is a reality in sports that any team can face failure several times but if such protests continue, no sportsman will be able to concentrate on his game when his family members were facing trouble back home,8221; said Tarif.
