What do you do to keep fit?

Do you follow a fixed fitness schedule?

Though I am serious about fitness, my fitness schedule is erratic. I get bored with schedules. My fitness programme also keeps changing according to my shooting schedule. In short, I try different things to stay fit, depending on my mood and schedule.

What exercises do you do?

I am a very energetic person. I am always on my feet, expending energy in some way or the other. Laughing is also a good exercise for the stomach muscles. Apart from that, I hit the gym, swim, do power yoga and Tai Chi. I love swimming, especially in the summer. Now that it8217;s monsoon, I have taken to the treadmill.

What is your favourite means of keeping in shape?

I am a water baby and love swimming. It is the most relaxing exercise and also meditative. I also enjoy power yoga. It8217;s a high-energy workout, but follows the basic principles of yoga.

How careful are you about your diet?

I follow a simple rule. The day I work out, I eat what I want. When I don8217;t exercise, I watch my diet. I am a vegetarian thrice a week, which is good for health and discipline. Other than that, I try and go for small meals, instead of three big ones.

What do you avoid eating?

I stay away from starchy and fried stuff. We should realise there are many yummy alternatives to such food. Instead of a having a fried samosa, one can always try bhel puri, which is a healthy and tasty alternative. When I feel like snacking, I go for low-calorie stuff like dhokla, khandvi, bhel, etc. 8212;SUNAINA KUMAR
