VADODARA, March 31: A scheme of the Vadodara Urban Development Authority VUDA for the economically weaker sections of the society was approved in the Board meeting recently.

According to VUDA Chairman K K Shah, 504 houses, consisting of a room and kitchen, would be constructed in Gotri. While one house will cost Rs 62,500, the built up area would be 250 sq ft for each house.

Those having annual income of less than Rs 25,000 would be benefited and the houses will be allotted through a draw.

Government grant is of Rs 4,000 and the beneficiary will have to pay Rs 18,500 as against the loan of Rs 40,000 from the Housing And Urban Development Corporation HUDCO.

It was also decided to allot 20 per cent houses to defence personnel, seven per cent to scheduled caste, 14 per cent scheduled tribe, 10 per cent to baxi panch and three per cent to disabled persons.

Various proposals like deepening the ponds, laying roads and drainage in various villages were also passed along with the budget. Ponds in Sama, Harni and Chhani will be deepened by a Vadodara-based firm on a scientific basis.

An amount to the tune of Rs 5,66,000 will be spent to carpet road between Undera and Koyali.
