In case the BJP has any respect for the reaction of the common people on turmoil in Parliament, as the leading opposition party they deserve to be forewarned to behave as true parliamentarians in this winter session. They must represent the people8217;s voice through forceful and convincing arguments against the misdeeds of the government. There are plenty of these, the latest being the Natwar Singh episode. But they must do this not by shouting slogans and boycotting the session, but by raising forceful arguments on the floor of the House.

Hidden message

8226; I am appalled by the uproar over the remarks by Khushboo and Suhasini and the way the general public has treated two of south India8217;s most talented actresses. It also appears, in this context, that the people are not aware of or are turning a deaf ear to the catastrophic effects of AIDS. According to international publications, India will be the next country to be seriously affected by AIDS. And yet, whenever people bring the issue up for discussion, everyone cries foul, as if these people have committed something seditious. Please look into your own backlanes, Calcutta, Mumbai, Chennai included. And take positive steps to curb AIDS. This is the message hidden behind those remarks by actresses.

No room for Sourav

8226; The Indian cricket team has proved that its recent success is a result of hard work and hunger for victory. Team India under Chappell and Dravid are doing a wonderful job. The youngsters have risen to the occasion. For those who are still keeping up the rant for Ganguly, agreed, he is a great player who is at the receiving end 8212; but whom will he replace in the current ODI team? As for tests, yes he needs to get in, but unfortunately, there is no place for him.

My Hindutva

8226; Fali S. Nariman has failed to understand the Hindutva I believe in 8216;Man who stopped Hindu Rashtra8217;, IE, November 21. Hindutva is not a dogmatic or closed concept. It8217;s a territorial idea, inclusive of all the people of Hindustan, not just Hindus. The Congress has spread the rumour that Hindutva is akin to communalism. The BJP and RSS have failed to tell people its true meaning.

Come on, play

8226; One wonders why the English cricket administrators are getting so vocal about the choice of venues for their matches during their forthcoming tour of India. It is true that Dharmashala and Agartala have not hosted major international matches. But if the infrastructure is upto the mark no team should have problems playing there. The other stadiums like the ones in Goa, Vishakhapatnam, Jamshedpur and other venues all have large capacities, in many cases, more than those of the English test centres. If England can host World Cup matches at venues like Bristol, Taunton and Swansea, which are small grounds with nominal spectator capacities, Indian stadiums are certainly better in terms of amenities.
