NEW DELHI, June 7: Event manager Amit Aggarwal of the Ethos Embassy, which organised the Annabelles Indian Summer Queen Contest at Inter Continental Hotel last night, was allegedly bashed up by the security Marshall at the entrance.

At around 12.30 a.m., Aggarwal’s friend Pankaj Goyal was waiting at the entrance of the discotheque for a friend, when security Marshall B.S. Rawat asked him to move. When Goyal refused, Rawat allegedly caught him by the collar and dragged him out of the hotel premises.

When event manager Amit Aggarwal heard about the incident, he brought his friend back into the hotel and began questioning Rawat. The latter, however, allegedly started abusing and then bashing up Aggarwal. Aggarwal was allegedly boxed and kicked several times till he was on the floor.

Of the four hotel executives who witnessed the incident, reportedly only one came to the event manager’s rescue. Aggarwal had sustained injuries on his eye and right arm. The event manager, who was weeping after the incident, apparently wanted to lodge an FIR. However, he was stopped by his friends, asking him to settle the matter with the hotel authorities without involving the police. The co-organiser of the event, Rakesh Kakkar, contacted the Membership Manager and demanded an apology for the incident.

“It took them almost four hours to give us a written apology. Even then, the apology did not clearly mention that Amit was beaten up. They referred to the incident as misbehaviour,” said Kakkar.

In the letter, duty manager Mohit Mehta has assured them that disciplinary action would be taken against the concerned person. In the meanwhile, a doctor had been called by the hotel authorities.

“The doctor wrote a prescription which was later changed and the original was not given to us,” alleges Aggarwal. The doctor’s prescription has confirmed the injuries and advised him to be taken to the emergency. At 4.30 a.m., Rawat was summoned and made to apologise.

“We want the hotel to take strict action against him. Only then will we feel that justice has been done,” said Aggarwal.

When contacted, the hotel authorities said that the matter was under investigation. They, however, stated that the fracas began because the organisers were trying to wangle stag entries.
