The few minutes of football that had to be played between Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab following Saturday’s fracas attracted few spectators on a Sunday morning. It did nothing to change the fact, however, that the end of J&K’s run in the tournament was close — 22 minutes away to be precise. As it happened, this quarter-final league match had no more goals to add to Sukhvinder Singh’s scorcher from the day before, and left J&K with no points from two matches in Pool A.
Services have sealed their last four place, and it is left to Punjab and Kerala (3 points each) to fight it out for the other spot.
The AIFF, meanwhile, has been sent a report of the violence that broke out yesterday. “We sent the report across yesterday. The tournament will go on as scheduled for now, though the future hosting of events here could be affected,” said an AIFF official here.
