AHMEDNAGAR, May 3: Ahmednagar police today arrested a history-sheeter who allegedly accompanied the killer of Santosh Bakliwal.

Vital clues have been picked up by the investigators with the first major breakthrough in connection with the sensational killing of the jeweller that had sent shock waves through this historic city, police sources said.

Earlier, the Saraf Suvarnakar Sanghatana members have decided to lift the shutters tomorrow, after receiving an assurance on security from the District Superintendent of Police. The bullion market here was closed since the day of Bakliwal8217;s killing on Saturday evening.

Police zeroed in on the suspect on the basis of a description of the assailants gathered during investigations. Some 15 persons including a police constable were rounded up by the police, yesterday.

Even as the motive of the assault has not yet been ascertained, the investigators also have been exploring the possibilities of involvement of organised mafia in the crime, it was stated.

Bakliwal8217;s murder had stunned to local business community. The traders, especially from the bullion market, were irate over the local police neglecting their demand for a police chowki in the Saraf Bazar.
