Highest ever export orders booked by BHEL

TIRUCHIRAPALLI, JUNE 15: The public sector unit, Bharath Heavy Electricals Ltd BHEL, had booked the highest ever export orders of Rs 703 crore during 1999-2000 despite the market witnessing structural changes and consolidation of major power equipment manufacturing companies, says a BHEL press release issued here today.

BHEL8217;s achievements included maiden entry in the overseas petroleum sector for the order of one 90 mw gas turbine based power plant in Oman 98-99, supply of transformers to Greece and Jordan, outdoor vacuum circuit-breakers to Oman, casting to Germany, power motors to USA against stiff competition, well-head equipment and X-MAS tree to Syria, a number of valves to Kuwait, commissioning of one 3X20 mw power plant in Saudi Arabia, supply of diesel electric locomotives to Malaysia by its Jhansi unit etc.
