
The Armed Forces have certainly not taken the 6th Pay Commission recommendations very well. The latest joke doing the rounds at Defence Headquarters is about the 8220;truth8221; behind the disappearance of two soldiers in California while on an Indo-US exercise there. Disgruntled officers contend that the soldiers heard about the paltry hikes recommended by the pay panel and decided to jump the ship. Another one says that thankfully the recommendations were made public after the contingent returned home, else the whole unit might have 8220;disappeared8221;.
