ROOPNAGAR, Sept 2: The mission of V.P. Saini, founder president of the All India Netaji Revolutionary Party, is not to win the elections, but just to make his presence felt. Saini is one of the Independents in fray for the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat and perhaps the only contestant who has the courage to say that he does not want to win. He only desires to make his presence felt for a larger nationalist aim of building an India guided by the revolutionary ideology. A staunch supporter of Subhas Chandra Bose, he named his party after Netaji after his 20 years of struggle to get a fresh inquiry commission constituted to probe the disappearance of Bose.

Thirty-odd Indian National Army volunteers are canvassing for Saini, who promises accessibility if sent to Parliament. Saini also offers to form segment-wise cooperative societies to help the unemployed youth. Although he has an association with the leaders of All India Forward Bloc, a socialist party formed by Bose, Saini preferred to float an organisation of his own to 8220;maintain distance from the bi-polar politics8221;. He feels the Forward Bloc, too, like other left streams, cannot desist from teaming up with the Congress.

Saini claims that a section within the Communist parties has extended support to him in certain segments of the Hoshiarpur constituency. 8220;They are disillusioned with the Congress-Leftist tie-up in Punjab,8221; he added to prove his point.
