MALERKOTLA, Oct 8: The Malerkotla police have solved the mystery surrounding the quot;murderquot; of head constable Zora Singh, of village Issapur, 15 km from here, who was working in the local jail in Malerkotla.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Inder Mohan Singh while talking to ENS today said that one Paramjit Singh, son of Mehar Singh, who belongs to the same village Issapur, had come to the jail on October 3 and Zora Singh had accompanied him to the village. However, on their way, they started drinking at village Bhoodan and Zora Singh became intoxicated. This gave Paramjit Singh an quot;opportunityquot; to hit the victim with a wooden stick, who died on the spot. Then the accused dumped the body of Zora Singh in the nearby well, the DSP said.
After three-four days, when Zora Singh neither attended his office in the Malerkotla jail nor reached his home in Issapur, then the police, on a complaint by his relatives, registered a case of kidnapping. However, following investigations, the police arrested Paramjit Singh of the same village who confessed to having committed the crime. A case has been registered against him.
