A Delhi High Court division bench today dismissed the IOA-appointed ad-hoc committee overseeing functioning of the Wrestling Federation of India WFI, and appointed retired high court judge JK Mehra to manage the day-to-day affairs of the federation for the next three months.
Mehra, the court said, will also supervise the WFI8217;s election to be held within these three months.
The high court bench was reacting to an appeal by former WFI president MS Malik, challenging an order of the court last year which resulted in the IOA intervention.
Malik8217;s contention was that since the IOA was party to the dispute within the federation, it cannot appoint an ad-hoc committee.
In the ad-hoc committee Athletics Federation of India secretary Lalit Bhanot was chairman and NRAI secretary general Baljit Singh Sethi was convenor.
Bhanot, when contacted by The Indian Express, said 8220;I am not aware of the decision of the court.8221;
Justice Retd Mehra, when contacted, said: 8220;I am yet to receive the orders. Let8217;s see what all would be within my jurisdiction.8221;
