HC notice to Kerala cops

The Kerala High Court today issued a notice to the police for filing a first information report FIR against a two-year-old girl in a criminal case relating to a property dispute at Maranallur in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Kerala High Court today issued a notice to the police for filing a first information report FIR against a two-year-old girl in a criminal case relating to a property dispute at Maranallur in Thiruvananthapuram.

The girl, Aparna, had been named in the FIR along with her parents and grandmother.

The prosecutor also assured the court that the police would not harass the family.

The court also directed that the assistant sub-inspector of the Maranallur police station and the complainant Prassana appear before it at the next date of hearing.

The girl and her parents have been charged with criminal trespassing and cheating that had allegedly taken place in April 2004, two months before Aparna was born.
