
CHANDIGARH, Sept 10: Twelve lawyers of the Punjab and Haryana High Court have in a signed statement demanded a special session of the Punjab Assembly to discuss and debate the reports of the Lok Pal, placed on the table of the House a couple of days ago.
The signatories to the statement said the Governor, in his capacity as the competent authority as prescribed under the Punjab Lok Pal Act 1996, should have consulted the Advocate General of the state or any other prominent lawyer before deciding to reject the recommendations of Justice H.S. Rai, the Lok Pal.
Those who signed the statement included Giani Bachitter Singh, Baldev Singh Brar, Mohinder Singh Gill, Baldev Singh Bhalur, Paramjit Singh Jahagir, R.P. Gupta, M.S. Ratta, Shiv Charan Kaur and B.P.S. Virk.
