
CHANDIGARH, July 23: Justice N.K.Sodhi of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notice to Prof M.M. Puri, Vice Chancellor and Dr Paramjit Singh, Registrar, Punjab University for September 15 to show cause why proceedings for contempt be not initiated against them for having intentionally disobeyed directions issued by the Additional District Judge, Chandigarh.
Counsel for the petitioner, Dr S.P. Chawla, formerly of the Centre for Advanced Studies for Mathematics, PU, contended that the Court had directed the Punjab University to release the salary of the petitioner within three months along with interest at the rate of 12 per cent per annum.
The petitioner alleged that the respondents had failed to comply with these directions, which was an intentional and deliberate act and amounted to contempt of Court.
