HISAR, Nov 9: Activists of the Haryana Krishak Samaj today took out a torch protest procession in the city to show their resentment against the callous attitude of Central as well state government for doing nothing to improve the plight of the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to unseasonal rains.
The procession was led by former MP and president of the Haryan Krishak Samaj Shamsher Singh Surjewala.
The protesters carried banners demanding compensation for damaged crops, dewatering within a time-frame, two-year moratorium on loan with waiving of interest, among other things. The procession, which started from Nagori gate, later turned into a rally at Mini Secretariat. The rally was addressed by several Congress party leaders.
