Harry Potter and the Philosopher8217;s Stone
On his 11th birthday, Harry Potter learns that he comes from a magical family and is to attend the Hogwarts, a magic school. There, Harry meets his new best friends, Ron and Hermione. At Christmas, he receives an 8220;Invisibility Cloak8221; that belonged to his father from an anonymous source. When Harry hears Professor Snape ask someone how to get past Hagrid, the gamekeeper8217;s enormous guard dog, he immediately suspects him of trying to get to the Philosopher8217;s Stone, whose elixir makes the drinker immortal. Harry, Ron and Hermione brave various traps to go protect the stone. Their headmaster and magician extraordinaire, Dumbledore, reveals to Harry that his mother died protecting him from Lord Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Harry is warned by Dobby, a house-elf, that his life is in danger. Back at school, the new Defence of the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lockhart, takes a special interest in Harry. When the Chamber of Secrets is opened, a monster escapes petrifying the students. It can only be opened by the heir of the maker, Salazar Slytherin. Harry discovers its opening, and finds a person who claims he is just a memory.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
When Harry uses magic in the real world, which is against the law, he worries he will get into trouble and runs away. He goes to Diagon Alley, where he learns that Sirius Black has escaped from prison and is out to kill him next. Back at school, for extra security, dementors will guard the premises. Later, Harry is attacked by a large dog, who transforms into Sirius Black. He and Professor Lupin reveal to Harry that Peter Pettigrew, who actually betrayed his parents, is alive and they are here to kill him.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The children are told that the Triwizard Tournament will be held at Hogwarts this year. Harry is chosen to represent Hogwarts, along with Cedric Diggory, even thought he did not apply. They have to complete three tasks, of which the first two Harry finds easy. For the third, Harry and Cedric decide to help each other and share the cup. But instead the cup transports Harry to a cemetery, where using Harry8217;s blood, Lord Voldemort returns to human form.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
When Harry uses magic to protect himself outside wizard school, he receives a letter telling him he is expelled from Hogwarts. Several members of the Order of the Phoenix arrive and escort Harry to the Black family house, where he finds Ron, Hermione and Sirius. He also learns that Voldemort is attempting to retrieve a weapon. When Harry has dangerous, prophetic dreams, he worries that he is under the control of Lord Voldemort. Meanwhile, Hermione convinces Harry to teach the students the Dark Arts at which Harry is naturally gifted and the group names itself 8220;Dumbledore8217;s Army8221;. Later, Dumbledore reveals to Harry that either he must kill Voldemort or be killed by him.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Voldemort and his death-eaters have been wreaking havoc all over London. Meanwhile, Draco Malfoy8217;s mother forces Snape to swear to protect her son, and complete his mission for Voldemort, if Draco fails. At school, Ron and Hermione discover they have feelings for each other, and Harry and Ginny Weasley start a relationship. Dumbledore also gives Harry private lessons to retrieve Voldemort8217;s memories from a pensieve. They discover that Voldemort split his soul into seven parts, all of which they must destroy to kill him.
