AHMEDABAD, June 1: Top seed Pandalaya Harikrishna of Andhra Pradesh and Tania Sachdev of New Delhi emerged champions after completion of the nine rounds in under-12 section of the 11th Centurion Bank National childrens’ chess championships at the Indian Institute of Management campus here on Monday.

Harikrishna was held to a draw by Abhijit Gupta of Rajasthan while second seeded Koneru Humpy of Andhra Pradesh managed to defeat Subham Das of West Bengal. Nilabh Upadhya of West Bengal beat state-mate Kumardeep Chakrabar.

In the girls’ section, Tania was forced to draw with N Vinthuna of Andhra Pradesh. The draw did not make much difference to Tania’s title hunt which she grabbed with 7.5 points. Baishkai Das of West Bengal beat Amruta Makal of Maharashtra and Esha Karvade downed M Kasturi. Anuradha of Haryana swept past M Priyadarshani. Gujarat’s Anoori Shah gave a creditable performance to claim the overall seventh position with 6.5 points.
