PANCHKULA, Oct 22: It was a spectacular evening for an audience of 3,000, assembled for the annual day celebrations of the Hansraj Public School, Sector 6, here. Enthralling performances by the school students and star guests Kanwaljit, accompanied by his wife, added colour to the three-hour-long extravaganza.

The show, hosted by Jasmine and Vijay Bhushan, started with the giving away of academic, cultural and sports awards. And then it was time to hold one8217;s breath as the cultural programme took off with a welcome dance, which was a fusion between Bharat Natyam and Kathak, with a perfect blend of rhythm, movement, expression, grace and beauty.

The welcome dance was followed by a gypsy dance, followed by a ballet, quot;Planet Earthquot;, based on the theme that Mother Earth has given us so much and in return we need to pay back by helping to preserve, conserve and sustain the environment and our forests. The next item in the same ballet implored not to be callous towards the serious damaging effects of pollution and environment abuse and the students acted as the saviours of earth.

The western dance that followed was set to some infectious, lively foot tapping music, radiating notes of happiness, joy and celebration of life. The audience was left spellbound as the students took the stage on skates, which was a tribute to the Kargil martyrs amidst the background song, Jai Jai Vandemataram8230;. The Panch Tatva performance depicted the five elements of nature which highlighted how these elements help us in our lives.

The most touching performance was given by 25 inmates of the Bal Sadan orphanage with Rageshwari8217;s Pure karen inke Khwab8230; The inmates have been adopted by the school, which provides them with special coaching, sports facilities and other educational aids, besides helping them raise funds to build a new building for Bal Sadan.

The grand finale with a spectacular fireworks show was indeed unbelievable as the stage came alive with all the students and teachers of the school sharing a common platform, reaffirming their love and bond for each other. There was a surprise for five lucky winners, who got a chance to have breakfast with Kanwaljeet.

The chief guests on the occasion were Vishnu Bhagwan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Haryana, and Kanwaljit, renowned TV personality.
