GSRTC violated code 8212; ST employees8217; union

AHMEDABAD, Aug 4: The ST Employees8217; Union, Ahmedabad region has written to the district collector and the State election commissioner demanding action against the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation for violating the model code of conduct by giving facilities to a BJP-controlled union.

The regional director, vice-chairperson and administrator of GSRTC have, under political pressure, given facilities to BJP-controlled Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, alleged Rehematu Mandali and Bipinchandra Dave of INTUC in a joint statement.

The notice to the collector said the BJP-controlled union was given recognition overnight by the Corporation, which is against the model code of conduct effective from July 11. The ST Union has also alleged that despite the code of conduct, BMS8217; name is publicised on a daily basis and efforts are on to create a rift between workers.

BMS has no members and violates the ID Act, and yet its documents are being released by GSRTC regional director, which should be cancelled, the Union has demanded.
