RAJKOT, Nov 2: Groundnut oil became dearer by Rs 10 per tin and cottonseed oil by Rs 8 per tin in the wholesale market on Monday. Palmolein oil and Vanaspati ghee witnessed a price rise of Rs 2 and Rs 5 per tin in the market.
Farmers started bringing groundnuts to the marketing yard some time ago, but due to the truckers8217; strike they could not be taken to the oil mills. About 70,000 tonnes of groundnut have arrived in the marketing yards. Arrival of cotton in the yards was also quite high, say marketing yard officials here. Jasdan Marketing Yard has asked farmers not to bring cotton for sale in the market as there is a glut of cotton in the yards. Sources said while crushing of seeds is on in the mills, the price rise is a normal increase caused due to the sudden demand in markets before Diwali.
