One person was killed and three others were injured in a grenade attack in Ganderbal area on Saturday, officials said. Militants lobbed the grenade towards a bunker manned by security forces at Beehama Chowk, 27 km from here, at around 1pm but it missed the target and exploded on the road, injuring four persons, they said. One of the injured, identified as Ghulam Ahmed Khan, died of his injuries in the Soura medical institute here. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, local people took to the streets at Beehama Chowk and protested against militants for the grenade attack, officials said.

In another incident, militants on Saturday made an abortive bid to attack an army vehicle in Menddhar area of Poonch district, official sources said. The ultras hurled a grenade at the security force8217;s vehicle at around 1430 hours on Saturday, they said. However, it missed the target and exploded in a nearby field. There was no casualty or damage in the explosion, they said. Meanwhile, police and security forces have launched a search operation in the area to nab the ultras, they added.
