Green Park, Kanpur is back as a Test venue. Having been denied the opportunity to host the India vs New Zealand match last year after the BCCI pitches and grounds committee found the 8216;8216;ground not in proper shape to conduct an international match8217;8217;, the UPCA has taken corrective measures to ensure that Kanpur gets a game against the visiting South Africans in November.

Kanpur will be the venue for the first Test see graphic while the second Test will be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. At the end of the two-day working committee meeting held here today, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya announced the dates and venues of the Australian and South African teams8217; visits this winter.

Apart from the Tests, Hyderabad will host the three-day match against the Australians Sept 30-Oct 2 while Jaipur will be the venue for the three-day game against the South Africans Nov 14-16.

It was also decided that the Platinum Jubilee ODI between India and Pakistan would be played on November 14. 8216;8216;The match will be played in Kolkata,8217;8217; Dalmiya said. Another important decision taken was the appointment of former India skipper S Venkataraghavan as director of umpires/match referees academy which the Board will set up soon. The committee also made net practice for umpires mandatory while announcing increase in fees at domestic level. An umpire officiating in the senior tournament would get Rs 2000 enhancement of Rs 500 while for a junior tournament he would be paid Rs 1,500 an extra Rs 500.
