The moment you step on his turf, you can feel the change. There is greenery all around.

The moment you step on his turf, you can feel the change. There is greenery all around. In fact, shrubs, palms and the perfectly-manicured flower beds lead you to Atul Khanna8217;s office at the Strawberry Fields World School in Sector 26.

Look up the twin set of buildings and there are creepers all over, alongside flower beds on window sills. There is an equally immaculate landscaping across the school8217;s grounds.

All signs of professional hands at work, we quiz the director of the Durga Das Foundation.

8220;Actually, the landscaping is all part of my doing,8221; Khanna puts across modestly. We prod further.

8220;When we were setting up the school, we decided against hiring specialists,8221; says the educationist who put his own ideas to action. 8220;I have always loved being adventurous with the greens,8221; says Atul who remembers getting his hands dirty in the lawns at home when growing up.

8220;I love the plants to follow me around, which is why you8217;ll see them everywhere. I experiment a lot with different varieties as well,8221; he says.

So what got him interested in gardening? 8220;The fact that I love nature but I picked up the nuances along the way,8221; answers the director who loves bottle palms.

And though he has packed schedules that leave him little time to spare, Atul looks forward to pottering around whenever he can 8212; be it at school or at home. 8220;It8217;s also a great stress buster for me!8221;
