
NEW DELHI, November 9: The Delhi government today announced that 450 tonne of onions would be available per day at the subsidy outlets and Mother Diary counters from tomorrow.
A government spokesman today said that 280 tonne of onions would be supplied to the 70 government-run static outlets from tomorrow, which is more than double the current supply there. About 100 tonne will supplied to the 200 Mother Diary counters, and the rest will be sold through mobile vans.
The official added the total supply of 450 tonne will be procured from NAFED. The government has also decided to stop buying onions from the Azadpur wholesale market so that 8220;the supply there is not affected8221;.
The onions at all these counters will ontinue to be available at Rs 10 per kg. And a customer will be allowed to buy a maximum of two kg in a week, only after furnishing his or her ration card.
