
NEW DELHI, AUG 1: Government today set up a panel for hardware under the national task force on information technology to go into problems faced by the industry and submit a report within a month.
The 12-member panel is expected to work out an action plan, including various policy guidelines, to achieve a five billion dollar hardware export target by 2005 and a 10 billion dollar figure by 2008.
The panel, with Dr N Seshagiri, special secretary in planning commission as coordinator, will focus on specific issues in manufacturing, maintenance, components and duty structure of the industry. It will also evaluate earlier analyses by the software development panel of the national task force and industry organistions like Manufacturers Association of Information Technology MAIT besides gathering fresh inputs.
