Gopi-Jain in final

BANGALORE, Nov 29: Gopi Chand meets unseeded Siddharth Jain in the final of the Scottish International Badminton Championship at Edinburgh. Top seed Gopi Chand beat Dane Kasper Odeum 15-2, 15-8 while Jain overcame Pontus Jantti Finland 15-13, 15-13.

In the first round earlier, India No 2 Nikhil Kanetkar lost 15-13, 11-15, 10-15 to Kasper Fangel Denmark and Kiran Kumar was beaten Antti Viitikko Finland 16-17, 15-10, 9-15.

National junior girls champion BR Meenakshi scalped three seeds before losing 6-11, 8-11 in the semis to top seed Ida Takako Japan. Meenakshi beat Russian Irina Rusljkova 11-9, 11-9 in the 1st round and then overcame second seed Joanna Szleszynska Poland 12-10, 11-9 and Danish No 5 Christina Sorensen in the quarter-finals.

Neelima Choudary lost to German junior Anne Hoenscheid 6-11, 8-11 in the 1st round.
