
CHANDIGARH, May 12: More than 100 golfers are expected to take part in the Punjab State Golf Championship to be held at Black Elephant Golf Club, Patiala on May 16 and 17.
According to Jagdeep Singh Cheema, president, PGA, competitions will be conducted in sub-junior, junior, senior and amateur categories.During the meet, golfers would be given seeding according to their performance. The best golfer in each category would also represent Punjab in the national events.
UTCA settles disputes
The tournament committee of the U T Cricket Association has decided to award the disputed Fighter A8217;-Godrej A8217; match of the second Grow Green Cup Chandigarh League cricket held on May 10 to Fighter A8217;.
Acording to a press note issued by UTCA, the committee rejected the protest lodged by Godrej A8217;, as they had staged a walkout after conceding the match. The committee also decided to replay the other disputed match between Fighter B8217; and Videocon XI on May 23 at 8 a.m. at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.
Meanwhile, it was also decided to appoint a match observer for the remaining tournament.
Academy8217;s inauguration
Indian Cricketers Ajay Jadeja, Harvinder Singh and Rahul Sanghavi will inuagurate the cricket coaching centre at the Hans Raj Public School, Sector 6, Panchkula at 11.30 a.m. tomorrow.
The academy, run by former Punjab Ranji skipper Krishan Mohan and Sanjay Verma, will have 70 boys in the age group of 10-16 years to begin with.
