Goa finance panel set up

Panaji, March 28: The Goa State Finance Commission GSFC has been constituted with immediate effect with the appointment of Dr V A Pai Panandikar as its chairman. The establishment of this authority is essential in order to effect further progress in the development of panchayati raj institutions. The state finance commission is required to give its recommendations to the 11th Finance Commission regarding transfer of resources to panchayati raj institutions.

On the basis of these recommendations the finance commission will consider augmenting the resources of the state government for development of panchayats and municipalities in Goa.
