Manchester, May 30: Australia went about the task of overhauling paltry target of 111 set by West Indies with strategic ease, taking 40.4 overs to achieve the task with six wickets to spare.
It was obvious Australia hoped keep New Zealand out of the Super Six, and thereby save two carry forward points. Having started the match needing to secure victory in 46 overs, Australia ensured the West Indies’ run rate did not fall dramatically.
Earlier, Glenn McGrath reignited his personal duel with Brian Lara, as Australia bowled the West Indies out for 110. The tall fast bowler bowled Lara and returned a career-best 5-14 as West Indies, sent into bat, was shot out in 46.4 overs on a two-paced pitch under overcast skies.

McGrath, who promised to knock Lara over before the match, beat the skipper with pace to hit his off stump as West Indies stumbled to 20 for three in the ninth over.
McGrath improved on his previous best of 5-40, against Sri Lanka in Adelaide in 1998-99.
