
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, seeking re-election in uniform, is facing the “rockiest period” in power with his approval ratings slumping, according to China’s state-run media. “Pakistan’s presidential election campaign is underway. Pervez Musharraf, who wants to be re-elected by assemblies before their dissolution in November, is facing major problems,” the official China Central Television (CCTV) said in a rare candid report on the volatile political situation in Islamabad, a close ally. “Political allies are wavering, approval ratings are slumping and the Supreme Court might uphold Constitutional
challenges. Pervez Musharraf is going through his rockiest period in power,” the report said. “Musharraf is facing the strongest Supreme Court in Pakistan’s history,” the report said.
