Gangster arrested

MUMBAI, JUNE 26: The Aarey Marg police arrested this afternoon a gangster in connection with the murder of a Goregaon businessman last month.

The police arrested Manohar Shirke alias Gotya from Argripada for murdering Ajay Kumar Harbans Singh on May 26. Shirke8217;s accomplice Kashinath alias Kashya has been nabbed, said the police. Shirke told the police that he and his accomplice Kashinath had murdered Ajay at the instance of one R S Singh, uncle of the deceased. The uncle is abcsonding, police said. Ajay8217;s body was found at his residence in New Indira Nagar, Goregaon, on May 26. The police were misled into believing that the the death was due to an accident.

The case was reopened recently when investigators receieved information that Shirke had carried out the killing after accepting supari from Ajay8217;s uncle.
