Frontier surprise Youngmen

NEW DELHI, July 12: Frontier scored a surprise 2-1 victory over Youngmen in group B of DSA-SAIL Senior Division Football League at the Ambedkar Stadium here today. Dharminder put Frontier in front in the fourth minute. But Youngmen’s Umesh Bora found the equaliser in the 41st minute. Surender, however, scored the match-winner for Frontiers two minutes later.

The victory helped Frontiers aggregate four points from five matches while Youngmen have 17 after eight games. Moonlight Club prevailed over Indian Air Force (Palam) 1-0 in another group B encounter at Ambedkar Stadium, Samar Das getting the lone goal for the winners. At the Nehru Stadium, defending champions City’s unbeaten record was shattered by a spirited Hans Club who scored a stunning 1-0 victory, in another group B match. The all-important goal was scored by Mahender Kumar in the 50th minute. City Club have collected 15 points from six matches while Hans have 10 from seven matches.

In another game at the Nehru Stadium, former champions Mughals Club defeated Tarun Sangha 1-0 to earn full points.
