Cory Walia has been in the beauty business for 10 years now. And by now, his trademark dramatic look with vivid eye make-up can be recognised a mile away. His most memorable work includes the Lakme aqua collection press shoot featuring Malaika Arora and the new Garden Vareli advertisements with Lisa Ray. quot;I have been lucky to have worked with some fabulous faces like Lisa, Malaika, Sheetal Malhar and Madhu Sapre. They all have an international quality.quot;
But making models look beautiful is not what Cory finds most satisfying. quot;What is most rewarding for a make-up artist is to find a plain face and making that into something.quot; Not that he does not admire beautiful women. Cory finds that Shobha De8217;s face gets better with age. And he should know 8212; he has done her make-up on several occasions for photo-shoots. But a face to watch out for is Dipannita Sharma. quot;She has a millennium face.quot; This young model who recently moved to Mumbai from Delhi where she was a hot favourite with local designers has alreadylanded the Synergie account, replacing their four-year-old model Lara Dutta.
Not that Cory writes off Lara. quot;She is just naturally beautiful. It is a crime to put make-up on her.quot; According to Cory, the quality of girls in the industry has improved since he first started out. quot;They pay more attention to their physique. But they still need to take care of certain areas, especially their knees, hands and feet.quot; But on the whole, Cory finds that most women in the glamour industry are more hard-working and committed than the men. quot;Though I think one guy who really works hard is Akashdeep Saigal. He really gives his 100 per cent to modelling.quot;
