NEW DELHI, Mar 15: Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha8217;s former advisor Mohan Guruswamy has alleged that he was offered a bribe running into crores of rupees by a Delhi-based lobbyist to put through a deal involving sale of Unit Trust of India8217;s share holding in ITC to BAT Industries of UK.

In an interview to a private television channel, Guruswamy said that Deepak Talwar, a lobbyist, had offered him Rs 10-12 crore for putting through the deal which would have enabled BAT to substantially hike its holding in ITC.

Talwar, however, has denied Guruswamy8217;s charges. In a press release issued on Monday evening, Talwar said he had ceased to represent BAT in India or anywhere else from mid-1998.
