
VADODARA, May 10: The three people arrested in connection with the forged M S University certificates and marksheets racket were remanded to three days in police custody on Monday. The arrested people are gang leader Hargurdip Singh Bhalla, a SYBA student of MSU, and Vaishnav Vijay Kumar Patel and Rasik Kumar Parmar, both technicians working with the Nice Xerox and Communications Centre in the Ushakiran building in Raopura.
Prevention of Crime Branch PCB officials said that the proprietor of the photocopy centre, Hemlataben Vakil, and her husband Suketu Vakil, are absconding. The officials said that though they were not directly involved, the fact that photocopies of marksheets and certificates were made using their machines was cause enough to arrest them.
PCB inspector Dinesh Mishra, when asked about action against the computer centre where printouts of forged certificates were taken out, said that the proprietor of the centre was likely to be arrested in a couple of days. He said he had informed the MSU registrar about the incident and requested him to co-operate in the investigations.
Meanwhile, the university administration have also dug up Bhalla8217;s past records following his arrest on Sunday. As per the university records, Bhalla took admissions in the department of Geology, Faculty of Science.
